MEATING MRS. HELGA HOŠKOVÁ-WEISSOVÁ
There have been nearly seventy-two years since the end of the World War II. Nowadays only a few direct witnesses who survived it is alive.
This year we were glad to welcome Mrs. Helga Hošková-Weissová in our school again.
She was a Prague Jewish citizen and at the age of twelve she and her parents were deported to Terezín and then to Auschwitz concentration camp. Then she had to work in an aircraft factory in Freiburg and after that she was sent to Mauthausen concentration camp which was acquitted by the American Army on the 5th May 1945. Miraculously, she survived. As a child she spent a lot of time with painting and painted everything around her. Thanks her ability to paint we can have a real description of what happened during her stay under cruel conditions of concentration camps. After the war she became a painter. She studied Art and was on an educational exchange in Israel. Then she taught Art and exhibited her paintings in Europe as well as in the USA.
Her engaging narrative was awarded with a huge applause.
